HP Device Manager console error after upgrading to Service Pack 4

When using a (upgraded) console which is not installed on the server, an error message occurs after trying to logon.

Problem:

When upgrading your HP Device Manager 5.0 installation to Service Pack 4, you also need to upgrade your de-central console installations. When the upgrade is finished and you start the console, the error message “Certificate error. Please contact your administrator to sync rmiclient.jks from the Server” is shown.

Resolution:

Due to higher security around local user/password a Java keystore file is created during upgrade on the server. This file needs to exist on the de-central console installations too.

To resolve this ‘issue’ :

  • Close the de-central console.
  • Copy the file \HP\HP Device Manager\Console\lib\rmiclient.jks from the server to the \HP\HP Device Manager\Console\lib folder on the desktop/server where the de-central console resides.
  • Start the de-central console.
